BYTERMINAL

Privacy policy

This policy explains what information BYTERMINAL processes when you read the site, contact us or subscribe to the newsletter.

Information you provide and why

If you subscribe, we process your email address and the page or form where you signed up to manage the subscription and send the newsletter. If you use the contact form, we process your name, email address, topic, message and the page you contacted us about so we can respond, investigate corrections and handle requests. Please do not include passwords, payment details or other highly sensitive information.

Service providers and storage

Newsletter sign-ups are stored in the publication’s CMS database. If newsletter delivery is configured, the email address may also be sent to Brevo for list management and email delivery. Contact submissions are sent to a private GitHub issue tracker for the editorial team. The website is hosted on Vercel. These providers process information to provide their services under their own terms and privacy policies. Contact and newsletter records are kept while needed to handle the request or subscription and for reasonable operational and legal record-keeping; we do not promise a fixed deletion schedule.

Analytics and cookies

The production site currently uses Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand site usage, diagnose issues and improve performance. These services may use cookies, local storage, device or usage information, and server logs. Your browser can block or delete cookies, though some site features may not work as intended. See Google’s, Microsoft’s and Vercel’s privacy information for details about their processing.

Affiliate links and external websites

Some product links may be affiliate links. If you follow one, the retailer or affiliate network may use cookies or other tracking to recognize a referral and may process information under its own privacy policy. BYTERMINAL does not control external sites. See our affiliate disclosure for more information.

Advertising cookies

BYTERMINAL loads the Google AdSense site-connection script, but does not currently place ad units. If ads are enabled after review, Google and other third-party vendors may use cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on visits to this or other websites. We will update this policy to identify the ad services actually used. You can manage personalized ads in Google Ads Settings or opt out of some third-party personalized advertising through aboutads.info. Google’s AdSense required-content guidance explains these disclosures. Before serving personalized ads to visitors in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, publishers must also configure an eligible consent flow; see Google’s current consent-management requirements.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can unsubscribe using the link in a newsletter email. You can also contact us to request access to, correction of or deletion of information you provided. We will review and respond to reasonable requests, subject to records we must retain and applicable requirements. Browser settings can also be used to clear or block cookies.

Policy updates and contact

We may update this policy when site features or service providers change. The current version is published on this page. For privacy questions or requests, contact BYTERMINAL through the contact page.
