Microsoft’s high-end AI mini PC designed for developers is slated to begin shipping in November.
Hardware and Capabilities
The Dev Box features an anodized aluminum chassis that functions as a heatsink. It runs on Nvidia’s Arm-based RTX Spark platform and includes 128GB of unified memory. Equipped with a 100-watt thermal envelope and Nvidia Tensor cores, the system is optimized for running local AI workloads, including models exceeding 120 billion parameters, for testing models, prototyping AI agents, and executing AI coding tools on-device.
Software and Ecosystem
As part of Microsoft’s Project Zenith initiative, the Dev Box ships with a developer-optimized Windows 11 Pro environment alongside preinstalled development utilities such as Visual Studio Code, Git, GitHub CLI, GitHub Copilot, WSL, Python, and Node.
